The Library has almost 300 recordings available on DAISY system CDs. These comprise a variety of religious books and articles by many authors, from Sr. Agnes’s “Being a Poor Clare” to Archbishop Derek Worlock’s “Bread upon the Waters”. Most of the cassette recordings are on one to five tapes, although William Dalrymple’s “From the Holy Mountain” is on fourteen tapes and Axel Munthe’s “The Story of San Michele” and Bernard Orchard’s “Ealing Abbey Gospel Commentary - St Luke” are each recorded on twelve tapes. As agreed at the 2007 AGM, because cassette tapes are in short supply and may cease to be manufactured in future, DAISY CDs are recommended if you have the equipment to play them. However tapes will be sent out while they are still available, if you need them. DAISY players are often available from your local Social Services Department, alternatively more information on the DAISY System can be obtained via the RNIB website at: www.rnib.org.uk telephone 08457669999. If you do not have a DAISY Player and you are unable to obtain one from your local Social Services Department, more information can be obtained via the DAISY website at www.daisy.org. telephone 08457669999. For a list of the recordings presently available for loan in the DAISY format and/or as tapes, please contact us. |
